The farm
The charr raised in the water tanks of Bleikjubær is raised in pure spring water in temperatures ranging from 4 to 8 degrees Cº. This spring water is as pure as it can get, the same quality water that we can find in bottles sold in stores to quench our thirst.
The quantity of water that flows though every minute is 24.000 litres (6300 gallons) and it fills tanks that combined hold 1.100 m3, outside and inside.

The water for the charr is as good as it gets
500 yards from the farm is a natural source of water as pure as pure can get. Before being put to use, the water was tested by the Icelandic National Association for Health. The results of that test stated that the water we use to breed the Arctic Charr is of the same high quality as the best bottled water sold in stores all over the world.
The Icelandic National Association for Health has analysed the purity of the water and the results are as follows:
What does that do for the product?
In lakes and rivers there is always accumulation of some sort of dirt and impurities that sometimes gives the fish caught or raised there a 'dusty' flavor that renders the fish somewhat less enjoyable. Therefore it is extremely important that the conditions, in which the Arctic Charr is brought up, are as good as possible.
This has been accomplished in the breeding process in our aquaculture in Bleikjubær, in which we take great pride in.
